Top 5 Reasons Custom Tesla Lock Sounds Fail to Play

1

File Named "LockChime (1).wav"

When you download a file multiple times in Chrome, it silently adds (1). Tesla code strictly requires LockChime.wav without trailing numbers or spaces.

2

Placed Inside "TeslaCam" Folder

Tesla dashcam clips live inside TeslaCam/. But the LockChime MUST reside in the root drive alongside TeslaCam, NOT inside it.

3

File Size Exceeds 1MB

Tesla vehicle firmware imposes a hard 1MB (1,048,576 bytes) ceiling. Files larger than 1MB are silently skipped without any error popup on the screen.

4

Wrong Audio Format (MP3 renamed to .wav)

Renaming a file from song.mp3 to LockChime.wav does NOT change the codec. Tesla requires uncompressed 16-bit 44.1kHz Linear PCM.
