How to Change Tesla Lock Sound from iPhone or Android Using a Dual USB Drive
You don't need to bring a laptop to your car every time you want to switch lock chimes. With a modern Dual-Interface USB Drive (USB-C & USB-A), you can swap sound effects directly from your iPhone 15/16 or Android phone in 30 seconds.
What You Need
- A Dual-Interface USB Drive: E.g., SanDisk Ultra Dual Drive USB Type-C (comes with both USB-C for your phone and USB-A for Tesla glovebox).
- Your Smartphone: iPhone (iOS 13+ Files app) or Android (Files by Google).
30-Second Step-by-Step Guide
Step 1: Plug the USB into Your Phone
Insert the USB-C side of the dual drive into your iPhone or Android charging port.
Step 2: Download Your Lock Sound
Open Tesla Lock Sound Lab in Safari or Chrome on your phone, find a sound or generate your name chime, and tap Download LockChime.wav.
Step 3: Move to USB Root Directory
- On iPhone: Open the Files app > Downloads > Long-press
LockChime.wav> Tap Move > Select your USB drive top-level folder (outsideTeslaCam). - On Android: Open Files app > Downloads > Copy to USB Drive root directory.
Step 4: Plug into Tesla Glovebox & Select USB
Plug the USB-A connector into your Tesla glovebox port. On the center display, tap Toybox > Boombox > Lock Sound > USB.
You're done! Walk away to hear your new chime.
